Glide app icon

Product videos, in one take.

An open-source, native screen recorder for the Mac. Glide zooms in on what you click, smooths the cursor and frames your screen on a background, then exports MP4 or GIF, usually several times faster than real time.

Version 0.1.0 · macOS 15 or later · Apple Silicon · Free and open source

Exported by Glide from its built-in demo recording: 12 seconds at 60 fps, rendered in about 5 seconds on an M4 Pro.

Zooms that follow your clicks

Glide zooms in on what you click with spring physics and motion blur, then glides back out. Add manual or follow-the-mouse zooms on the timeline.

A cursor worth watching

Re-rendered at high resolution and smoothed, with tilt, press feedback, click ripples and hiding when idle. Click sounds if you want them.

Framed for you

Generated wallpapers, gradients or your own image behind padding, rounded corners and a shadow. Laptop, phone and tablet frames, and presets for your style.

Record anything

A display, a window, an area or a USB iPhone or iPad, with system audio, microphone and camera. Start from anywhere with ⌥⇧⌘R.

Edit, caption, export

Trim, split and speed up typing. Blur private details, caption on device with Whisper, and export MP4 or GIF from 720p to 4K.

Native and open source

Written in Rust, drawn on the GPU and encoded in hardware: recording a 5K display takes about 10% of one CPU core. The code is on GitHub.

One window, from recording to export.

Glide opens on recording setup with a live preview of your source. Stop recording and you're in the editor: timeline, zooms, masks, captions and styles, all previewed live on the GPU.

Glide's editor in light mode: a recording in a laptop frame with a caption, and settings for zoom animation and motion blur. Glide's editor in dark mode: a recording on a wallpaper, a timeline with an automatic 2× zoom, and background, frame and shadow settings.

Requires macOS 15 or later on a Mac with Apple Silicon. Free under the MIT or Apache 2.0 license, with the source on GitHub. Made by Micky.

Glide is an open-source alternative to Screen Studio, built in Rust. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Screen Studio or its authors and contains none of its code or assets.
